LATEST NEWS ABOUT SUPER COPPA

Super Coppa is a pre- season football competition held every year before the week of the Italy season begins. Supercoppa is also known as Italian super cup. The contestants of the Supercoppa tournament will be the winners of the Serie A and also it includes the Supercoppa Italia in the previous season. Usually the competition will be held at the home place of Series- A Champions. In case the same team wins both Serie A and SuperCoppa Italia, the Supercoppa will be contested between the Serie A winner and the Coppa Italia runner-up.

The 2009 Supercoppa Italia competition was played at the Bird’s Nest of Beijing, which is in China. It was played in August and the title has been won by Lazio (the Coppa Italia winners) who defeated the Serie- A champions Inter 2-1 which was held at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing of China.

In the previous season, whilst Lazio was trailing in the 4- 2- 3- 1 formation but the new coach Ballardini of the year 2009 opted for a new formation in 4-4-2. This new formation regained the upcoming and young goalkeeper Fernando Muslera in his starting position between the sticks. The Swiss international Lichsteiner took the right back position and Kolarov took the left position. Ballardini to the audience’s amazement went for the Diakate, Siviglia centre back team and while deciding to leave the highly rated Brazilian, and finally Cribari got back on the bench. The flat four on the centre of that park consisted of Brocchi, Matzuzalem, Baronio and Mauri. The highly awaited Super Copper final finally got on the way at the Beijing National Stadium, the Bird’s Nest of Beijing of China.

Rules followed in the last Super Coppa competition:

- 90 minutes.
- 30 minutes of extra-time if necessary.
- Penalty shoot-out if scores still level.
- Seven named substitutes
- Maximum of three substitutions.

The spectators around the Beijing National Stadium were about seventy thousand and they are passionate Chinese supporters. Lazio started the first half as the more dominate team. After the first half which was best played by Lazio, Italian referee Morganti, on the 45 minute mark saw the scores locked at a 0-0. The second half of the final Super Coppa got on the way with a bang as Inter threatened Lazio. Finally at the end of the competition Lazio was leading at the 2- 1 and won the trophy Super Coppa Italia 2009.

The Supercoppa Italia competition 2009-2010 took place in the week before Italian season begins and the Super Coppa clash took place between Internazionale and Lazio as scheduled and played at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing of China. Earlier the Super cooper competition was played three times outside Italy. The competition at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing of China, celebrated its first anniversary of the last year’s Olympic opening ceremony. In the same way, Supercoppa Italia competition 2010-2011 which is to be held next year is much awaited by not just the Italian fans but by fans world over.
